Can you name some of your current inspirations?
I have many inspirations for different parts of my life. Pinpointing specifics is difficult, but Iris Apfel is a wonderful fashion figure I strongly admire. Generally, anyone that is doing what they love and are passionate about is inspiring.
What is one item of clothing you couldn't live without?
Where did the inspiration for your 'identity' youtube series come from?
I had seen a couple YouTubers do similar types of videos in regards to showing people and their interests. I thought I would do my own take on these videos, asking questions which allowed each person to talk about themselves - showing their interests, aspirations, and just themselves as a person. After a few videos, I realised this acted as a video version of person at a specific point in time. Like any video or photo, it allows people to see how they have personally grown and changed over time.
What does feminism mean to you?
In its simplest form, feminism means the aim to achieve equality between non-/binary genders in regards to social, economic and political factors.
What's your favourite tv show/movie and why?
My favourite TV show at the moment is probably How to get Away with Murder. The suspense actually kills me. Also I binge watched the entire 3 seasons of Black Mirror in 2 days and it was the best thing I've done this year. Each episode is a totally new story with the same themes of humans and technology. I like this format as it keeps it interesting, like watching multiple 1 hour movies that are related but so different at the same time.
Once again, I have many favourite movies, but one that always strikes me as a favourite is Her directed by Spike Jonze. The cinematography, sound track and plot are so captivating and emotionally hard hitting. The concept sounds strange, but the emotional and mental connection Jonze establishes and develop in the film is what makes it a top movie for me.
What's your favourite book and why?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Tara Chandra is an eighteen year old student from Sydney. On her blog, Fashion Bambini, she shares her unique and "christmas-tree aesthetic" outfits (which I LOVE). On her YouTube channel, she shares lookbooks, weekly vlogs, current inspirations, as well as talking about feminism and self-worth, and issues such as internalised racism.
Tara has also published two issues of a magazine, Easy Mag, 'dedicated to those who are unafraid to explore themselves and their surroundings, who will eventually rise above the fear of judgement to live their lives as they choose'. Issues 1 and 2. Also check out Tara's instagram for some serious outfit envy.
