new year's resolutions?

31.1.15

When it comes to making promises to myself I'm absolutely pants, so I'm obviously not the best at resolutions. Is anyone? Recently, I've been trying to be a bit more positive about things and making changes. I'm really in to reading all those happy quotes and watching YouTube videos that make me feel really organised and inspired. My favourite channel for that is faithincuteness, she deserves waaaaayyy more subscribers.

Thank you Ellen for kidnapping my camera and taking all the pictures xx
One thing I REALLY want to do is improve my diet and fitness habits. I know, so cliche, but there's a reason this is everyones' goal. I always feel so much better after a healthy meal or a good hour exercising, but it's hard to push myself to do that, especially with exercising. There's a gym right down my road that I have a membership to, so there's not much of an excuse for me not to go. I'm still working on healthy eating. I find it hard to get my head around that there are so many delicious healthy foods and that most people stick to junk. Also, GET OFF THE INTERNET ONCE IN A WHILE ( lol no )

After finally finding my main source of outfit inspiration - Le Happy - I really would like to improve my photography on here, mainly for outfit posts. I'm really trying to go out to pretty locations instead of sticking to my back garden.

Those were two of my main resolutions. I have a few more personal ones but they're all pretty boring..

This post is part of a little blogger series I'm taking part in called the "secret blogger project 2015" run by teen bloggers Emily , Rebekka and Charlotte. raspberry collar and knee length coat

29.1.15

shirt - motel
jumper - similar here
coat - topshop
hat - topshop
gloves - monki
boots - h&m

In case you didn't know I wear this coat 24/7. I generally wear it when I want to look more classy and elegant. The length is longer than any other coats I've had, so it's a bit out of my comfort zone, but I really love it. It's such a versatile item. With the collar it makes me look like I've put a lot more effort into choosing the outfit than I actually have.

now playing: I LOVE THIS SO MUCH

art i love

Sachaaaa ( moonbxbyx ), so so lovely and amazingly talented! Her instagram is flawless

too mainstream

23.1.15

top - inu-inu
leggings - primark
shoes - adidas
bag - asos
earrings - primark

When I say mainstream I'm referring to the 'trends' the girls in my school make which I try to follow.
I bought the bag in the January sales which a thankfully still going on. I love love the cloud print and I can't wait until I actually need a small bag so I can use this weekly daily.
I wore it with my one true love, the t shirt which I haven't taken off since I got it. Don't know why I like it so much, it's just a carton of milk? Grow up, Edie.

hair care heroes

21.1.15

After endless blog post reading and way too much research to find the best sea salt spray ( my Lush one ran out, I tried to make my own.. ), I settled on the Tigi Catwalk salt spray and ohmygooood. It sinks into my hair almost instantly, and you only need the tiniest spray to have an amazing effect. If I'm having a lazy day or I need to give my hair more grip, I'll just spray some of this on and gather up my hair and hold it ( scrunch? ).

Back in the summer when my hair was sun-damaged and sea-damaged etc, I tried the Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner for dry and damaged hair and that worked wonders. But when I ran out of that I knew that my hair was better suited for maximum strength hair therapy type products, and I'd heard really good things about the Tresemme platinum strength shampoo and conditioner so I got iiitttt. They leave my hair feeling super silky and smelling absolutely gorgeous.

One hair essential for every girl is a good hairspray. My vo5 one decided to die on me so I decided try  the Toni and Guy glamour firm hold hairspray. It's not a complete miracle worker, but it keeps my hair in place and doesn't leave it with that gross straw feeling most hairsprays give.

I bought the Organix anti-breakage keratin oil weightless rapid reviving oil on a bit of a whim in Tesco's a few weeks ago on a mission to find something to save my poor dry hair. Praise the god of spur-of-the-moment shopping trips, this is a life-saver. I pour a little bit into my hands and run it through my hair, mainly the ends, and it improves the appearance and state of it so much.

Bohemian Quartz

19.1.15

Bohemian Quartz is a pretty perfect jewellery shop, and Jeis very kindly let me pick out two pieces. I chose The Galaxy Moon pendant and Tree of Life pendant. I have a pretty big frame of reference and I can safely say I was shocked at how good the quality was for such reasonable prices!
Both pendants I absolutely love - the tree of life pendant is so easy to wear and goes with pretty much everything, and as one of my 'resolutions' for 2015 is to start wearing more statement jewellery, the Galaxy Moon pendant is exactly what I was looking for.

peach and raspberry smoothie recipe

17.1.15

A super quick post today, but I thought I would post a recipe on here. It's for this delicious smoothie which I actually drink all the time, and... it's healthy ( what? ).

You will need:
a banana
a ripe peach
frozen raspberries ( I didn't have any when I was taking the picture.. )
milk
a blender

Just blend all the ingredients and you've got yourself a delicious peach and raspberry smoothie!

spooky eyes

11.1.15

Recently I received these gorgeous new contact lenses from Dream Eyes, so what else could I do but take some improvised night time photos. I chose the Hulk Eye lenses, they looked so intriguing on the site, and when they arrived! As you can see, this isn't me in the pictures, its my beautifuuuuuul friend Maddy who kindly offered to put the lenses in.
From my knowledge of contact lenses, these are an amazing quality, even though we weren't so good at putting them in, ( it took 20 minutes and many rounds of spotify playlists ) they didn't rip or tear. With proper care and storage, these lenses should last a year,  which means people will forget my actual eye colour because I will wear them so much!
If you're interested in scaring people with your eyes, or just want a change, I'd really recommend going to the Dream Eyes website, they have such a wide variety of lenses you're bound to find something that interests you.

even though I was sent this product to review, it does not influence by opinion and I have been 100% honest as always

evening skincare routine for oily and spot prone skin

7.1.15

I have oily, sensitive and spot prone skin, which is a weird and annoying combination, but I've noticed it clear up drastically because I never skip out on this holy grail skincare routine.

step one: I remove my makeup with the Garner Micellar Cleansing solution. This is perfect if you're on a budget as it's an exact dupe of Bioderma, the more expensive option. I think I'm on my third bottle??

step two: using the Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion, I put a dollop ( flippin love that word ) onto a cotton pad and rub it in a bit.

step three: using the Simple spotless skin triple action face wash I massage it into my already damp skin. This is to ensure all my makeup is removed and give it a proper wash.

step four: I'll only do this two times a week as I don't think it's necessary to do it daily, but I take the St. Ives gentle apricot scrub for sensitive skin and massage it into my skin. It has a lovely fruity scent, which is from the apricot, and makes me feel like a fruit salad ( yay ).

step five: once I've dried my face with a warm towel I apply the Simple kind to skin soothing facial toner because I've probably been lazy and left half of everything on. This is also to make sure I have a clean base before I start moisturising.

step six: as it's extremely cold right now, and my skin's already dry as it is, I need a heavy duty moisturiser so I'll dab a tiny bit of Benefit's total moisture facial cream on my skin and blend it. This really does it's job which is why I don't like to put loads on, a little goes a long way.

step seven: I apply a small amount of the Origins Super Spot Remover on my spots and leave it overnight. It completely gets rid of them and is a miracle worker despite being on the pricey side.

the ultimate round up

5.1.15

To follow on from my 2014 in pictures post I did the other day, I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite makeup and other random favourites of 2014.
I won't go into too much detail as there are quite a lot a few things I want to talk about..

Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner - I've been wearing eyeliner loads more recently, especially for the last six months, and this is basically a fine liner sharpie, except it's easy to get off. It's so so easy to apply so if you're starting out with makeup I couldn't urge you to go out and buy it enough.

Rimmel Wonderfull Argon Oil Mascara - This is usually worn with the supercat eyeliner, purely because it makes my eyelashes so huge. Think the North Pole, all Santa's elves could see my eyes when I wore this on Christmas Day. I definitely prefer it over Benefit's 'They're Real', which to be honest is one of the worst mascaras I've ever tried.

Mac lipstick in Hug Me - During the colder months, I'd been wearing 'Peach Blossom', but after having received this recently ( thanks gran ), not a day has gone by when I haven't worn it. Not exaggerating. It's such a beautiful browny pink toned nude, and so and creamy and tastes like toffee, as all the Mac lipsticks do. Unlike my other ones, it has really good staying power and is a lustre finish, so I'll definitely stop buying the cremesheen finishes.

Bleach hair dye in Rose - this is more of a spring/summer favourite, as I'd always have some different colour in my hair, but the fabulous Maddy gave me some bottles of this stuff and I've constantly been getting pink all over my face. Must have looked like a complete idiot, bright pink and blue hair in December.

Marshmallow fluff ( essential ) - have consumed 3-5 pots of this in the past month.

eos Rachel Roy lip balm - in winter my lips get really chapped and dry, so while in Brick Lane I spotted this in those Box Shops ( ?! ) and figured, hey I'm in desperate need of a good lip balm and it has angel wings on it.

Origins Super Spot Remover - Worth. Every. Single. Penny. Even though it's on the pricey side, I cannot recommend this enough if you have oily, spot prone skin. It lasts for so so long as you only need to apply the tiniest dab - I've had this for 5 months and it's still not a quarter finished.

Frankie magazine - I did a separate post on this as it's just the best magazine, so if you want to know more click here.

Betty magazine - close runner up to Frankie, nicer photography I think. So far every person who's seen this in my room has picked it up and said oooh this is cool.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer - I don't have the best skin so on most days I need a good concealer. This is a great one because it's really thick and creamy and blends in nicely. The size is perfect for travelling, I used it loads in the summer which means unfortunately it's a bit orange on me now..

Victoria's Secret spray in Pure Daydream - it smells like heaven and I have been wanting this for nearly two years.. who knew Victoria's Secret didn't only do bras and pants?

Urban Decay Naked Basics palette - THANK YOU GRANDMA AND GRANDAD FOR GETTING ME THIS I LOVE YOU. The colours are crazily pigmented and I've been wearing this all the time. I have nothing else to say other than it's a god send.

now playing: arcade fire over and over

holding onto Christmas ft. The Little Jewellery Company

3.1.15

jumper - rokit
leggings - american apparel
shoes - new look ( old )

'Christmas is well and truly over' she sobbed. I needed a little bit of festivity in my life and I'm sure you did too, so here.
I didn't actually dress too Christmassy on the 25th but if I did this is probably what I'd wear - you can never go wrong with a classic Christmas jumper. I was in Rokit with my mum looking for a suede jacket and saw this and has one of those I NEED IT moments. Tried it on and had one of those WHY AM I SO SMALL moments. But hey, it looks weird wearing high waisted leggings with a top that doesn't cover your bum and I like me some oversized clothing.
Now let's get started on the queens of all Christmas jewellery. I was sent these bauble earrings from The Little Jewellery Company and I'm in love. The colour is just stunning and I've been wearing these a lot. It does attract some weird looks from the public but if I'm feeling festive, I'm really festive.
I've had no problems with these as I expected, they're beautifully made and came in the most flawless packaging. I would really really recommend some of the jewellery from this company as a gift for someone of just as a treat for yourself. Y'all can also get 10% off your first purchase with the code EDIE10 so you have no excuse to not go and treat yourself.

although I was sent these earrings to review, it does not influence my opinion and I have been 100% honest as always
