dipdye

3.8.14

I can't make up my mind about this. The whole craze started off with a few people dip dying their hair obmre but now it's all mad rainbow colours. Being a tumblr addict I've been swamped in bright and pastel and blonde tipped ends and it's really made me tempted to dip dye my hair for the rest of the summer. I doubt I'll be brave enough, especially as it probably won't wash out by the time school starts and I have the type of teaches that won't hesitate to rip your throat out if you go near any dye.
I just love teal colours so if I do dye my hair it'll be blue-y ends. If anyone knows a way apart from bleach to dip dye your hair please please pleeaase let me know.

Greek Market/old town

Sorry for the complete overload of photos. But Greece ( rhodes island ) has probably been my all time favourite holiday. So many bright colours, incredible food and landscapes and everything was just so beautiful. I think some of my very distant and ooolllddd relatives grew up in Rhodes and it was so lovely visiting all the old shops and houses they used to own. But the market. Oh my days. It was hands down incredible. I don't think I've ever seen so many bright colours in one place. And not so fun fact, they paint the bottom of the trees white so ants don't crawl up them :)
But my favourite stall ( I say stall, it was on a boat ) was a little place selling shells. It's the first shop I've ever seen that was on a boat. The shells there were so adorable and the layout was amazing and I came out with about 5 of the dyed starfish.
The hotel we were staying in was 5 star so I felt very privileged and fancy! And somehow I was persuaded to go paragliding and to be pulled on an inflatable thing by a speed boat. It was the most terrifying experience of my life. Every time the boat turned you felt like the inflatable was about to capsize ( you were basically swung off ) and if you let go you'd be stranded in veeerrryy deep seawater - if you're like me and get scared that there's sharks even in shallow water, you can imagine how scary that would be.
So thumbs up if you can see how terrified I am in those two pictures.

pictures from my tumblr.

Okay I'm not gonna lie. This post is so ridiculously ironic I'm tempted to take it down/delete my other tumblr post. You see, I did a post with the title why tumblr annoys me, basically explaining why I did't have a tumblr account and why tumblr annoyed me ( note past tenses - suspense ). But after posting that I had a look on tumblr ( on a computer - don't worry pals - that was not a serious word I am not a cowboy ) and thought 'how hard can it be to set up an account?' Turns out very.
The actual setting up is probably the most frustrating thing apart from finding a picture that fits the YouTube channel art section ( I can't even begin to explain the struggle ). But once I had the account set up I think I re-blogged about 60 pictures in 10 minutes. I can really see why it's so addictive. Basically 10 tumblr minutes is 3 human hours and believe me once you've joined tumblr you're not human.
My tumblr is themed black, white and green. I know that is ridiculously overrated ( WHY IS EVERYONE SO OBSESSED WITH PLANTS ) but it was either that or text posts and once I find a text post account it's just scrolling and reading until I've read them all.
My phone STILL isn't letting me get the tumblr app so I'm going to have to make-do with my dad's EXTREMELY annoying android/very very old computer because he refuses to get a mac.
Let's count how many times I said the word tumblr in that.

mint and vanilla apple juice recipe

14.6.14

A few posts back I mentioned going to the fanciest restaurant in the history of forever ( so fancy I've forgotten the name ), and I had this amazing mint and vanilla apple juice. It was so delicious I asked the barman for a recipe. He was pretty rubbish though. Only gave me the obvious. This left me to do a bit of trial and error, and, after making about 4, I was getting compliments from my family about how delicious the drink was. So here's the recipe.

You will need
  • a glass/mason jar jug
  • crushed ice
  • cloudy apple juice
  • fresh mint
  • vanilla extract
Method
  • fill the glass up half way with the crushed ice
  • fill up the rest with the apple juice
  • put the teeniest tiniest drop of vanilla extract in and mix it thoroughly ( I swear I've never used that word before )
  • put the fresh mint leaves somewhere in the drink and the flavour will soon spread, adding some sweetness
  • drink outside in the sun and be glamorous with your non alcoholic cocktail. I very much doubt this counts as a cocktail though

pineapple retro

12.6.14

Pineapple Retro. The amount of times I've heard my mum go on and on about this place. And when I finally went into it, I couldn't come out, yet the only thing I could afford was a cup I haven't even used yet. I should just be happy I finally got the chance to go, as it's in Hampshire, which is a looooong way to drive. It's my dream shop - bright colours and vintage fabrics, books, games, signs, AND EVERYTHING MOST THINGS WERE ORGANISED INTO COLOUR SCHEMES. That's not important though. When I walked in I had a brainwave that said BUY EVERYTHING, but after a closer look at the prices... nope. I completely fell in love with the artsy products, especially all the luminous lights. There was also a HUGE yellow statue of one of the signs you find on the front of men's loos, but I accidentally deleted the picture of that.
Let's count how many times I used capitals in that post.
So, last Wednesday I finished my exams and they were brutal. I'm in the midst of getting my results back and I won't talk about those anymore...
